By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) closed the 2025–2026 Opening Season on Saturday night with its annual awards ceremony at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan, recognizing the league’s standout performers moments after Napoles FC lifted their first-ever championship trophy.
The ceremony featured individual and team awards, with each honouree stepping forward to receive their awards.
Note: In the FFB award photos, Sandra Aleman, Competition Director, appears on the left, and Jacqueline Pelayo, Women’s Executive Member of the FFB, appears on the right. Corozal Elite FC and Xinena Flores weren’t present for the awards.
Individual Awards
PWLB 2025–2026 Opening Season MVP – Roshanny Narváez (Napoles FC) –
Napoles captain Roshanny Narváez was named Most Valuable Player, capping a season defined by leadership and her decisive goal in the Final.
Top Scorer – Jayda Brown (Napoles FC) –
Forward Jayda Brown earned the Most Goals Scored award after a breakout season highlighted by her stoppage‑time strike in the championship match.
Best Goalkeeper – Jasmin Armstrong (Sagitun GIRLZ) –
Sagitun’s Jasmin Armstrong was named Best Goalkeeper, honoured for her consistency and command of the penalty area.
Best Defender – Ximena Flores (Corozal Elite FC) –
Corozal Elite’s Ximena Flores earned Best Defender, anchoring one of the league’s most organized back lines.
Best Midfielder – Sabrina Eiley (Sagitun GIRLZ) –
Veteran midfielder Sabrina Eiley was recognized as Best Midfielder, for her leadership and tactical influence.
Fair Play – Corozal Elite FC –
Corozal Elite received the Fair Play Award, recognized for discipline, sportsmanship, and respect throughout the season.
Team Awards
PWLB Champions – Napoles FC –
Napoles FC lifted the PWLB Championship Trophy for the first time in club history, celebrating with players, staff, and supporters.
PWLB Subchampions – Sagitun GIRLZ –
Sagitun GIRLZ received their subchampion medals and trophy, closing another strong season.
The awards capped a season of growth for the league and highlighted the rising talent shaping the future of Belizean women’s football.
