Female tourists targeted in pre-Christmas robbery in San Ignacio Town

By Aaron Humes: On Saturday night, two female tourists became victims of a robbery in the downtown area of San Ignacio near Burns Avenue, adjacent to Macal Park. The assault occurred just after 11 PM, leaving the women shaken and fearful.

Surveillance footage captured the assailant approaching the tourists. One of the victims could be heard pleading, “Hailey, let go!” as the robber forcefully wrestled her sling bag away before fleeing the scene. Both women ran the opposite way to safety, left visibly distressed by their ordeal.

This robbery is part of a troubling trend, with reports of similar incidents on the rise across the country, as the holiday season approaches. Police have yet to confirm whether the victims filed a police report regarding the theft.

Residents and visitors alike are reminded to remain vigilant during this festive period, with increased reports of crime raising concerns for safety in popular tourist areas.
