By Aaron Humes: On Saturday, September 6, at Cisco River, located approximately 6 miles away from the Thomas Vincent Ramos highway, a father and son drowned after they were swept away by the strong current of the river.

According to police, Elroy Cal, 17, fell into the river while sitting on the riverbank. His father, Thomas Cal, 45, jumped into the river to try and rescue him, despite neither knowing how to swim. Unfortunately, both were dragged underwater by the strong current and did not resurface.

With the assistance of nearby villagers, the bodies of Thomas Cal and Elroy Cal were retrieved from the river. They were transported to the Southern Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The police have recorded statements from the surviving family members. The incident is currently under investigation.
