By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police have successfully recovered a stolen horse following a report of cattle theft originating in Carmelita Village, Orange Walk.
The complainant visited the Sand Hill Police Station on March 31 after discovering his missing livestock being ridden by an individual along the roadside near Lemonal Village.
The horse, a brown castrated male Quarter horse mix, had been reported missing since March 22. According to police reports, the animal was found with a “freshly altered” brand on its left leg, suggesting a deliberate attempt to disguise the stolen property.
Witness testimony placed two male suspects riding the horse through Carmelita on the night of the theft. Scenes of Crime (SOC) personnel have since photographed the animal as evidence.
The investigation is ongoing, as police work to identify the individuals involved in the theft and the subsequent branding alteration.
