By Zoila Palma: Today, the Farmer Field School (FFS) Program hosted their closing ceremony at the Belize Livestock Producers Association (BLPA) headquarters.
With a focus on climate-smart and regenerative agricultural practices, farmers who participated in the training capped off the program with a comprehensive tour of the Belmopan Model Farm, highlighting rotational grazing and electric fencing systems, followed by a technical demonstration on the application of screwworm treatment products.
In addition to peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and collective farmer recommendations, the event concluded with an equipment and forage handover to equip participants with the essential resources needed to implement sustainable methodologies on their own farms.
The program was made possible through the coordinated efforts of The Nature Conservancy, BLPA, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security & New Growth Industries, the Belize Maya Forest Trust, and UB Central Farm.
