By Zoila Palma: The family of three-year-old Raquel Quiñones is urgently seeking public support as they race against time to secure life-changing medical treatment for their daughter in Mexico.
Diagnosed with hearing loss earlier this year, Raquel has exhibited minimal response to stimuli since April 2024, prompting doctors to recommend immediate intervention.
Specialists have advised that Raquel begin intensive speech and hearing therapy to fully assess her condition. She may also require cochlear implant surgery—a procedure only available at advanced medical facilities in Mexico.
To help cover the growing medical costs, Raquel’s mother has launched a community raffle, with tickets priced at $5 each.
The raffle is scheduled for July 19, but all funds raised will go directly toward an important medical appointment in Mérida on July 15.
Supporters can contribute by purchasing raffle tickets, contacting the family directly at 620-6450, or making donations to their Atlantic Bank account.
Every donation—no matter the size—brings little Raquel closer to the specialized care she urgently needs.
