Family hospitalized after car overturns near Sandhill

By Horace Palacio: On April 21, 2024, Sandhill Police responded to a single-vehicle accident between miles 28 and 29 on the Old Northern Highway. Upon arrival, officers discovered a dark blue Mercedes Benz 4-door car overturned on the right-hand side of the highway when traveling towards Sandhill Village.

Initial investigations indicate that Martin Swift was driving the vehicle with his family from Lucky Strike Village towards Sandhill. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle while navigating a curve near mile 29, causing the car to overturn multiple times.

All occupants of the vehicle were transported to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) in Belize City by family members prior to police arrival. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

Police are working with the KHMH to assess the victims’ injuries and obtain official medical documentation.
