By Zoila Palma: Today, family, friends and fellow educators are gathering in San Ignacio to bid farewell to education giant, activist and advocate George Frazer.
The legendary trade unionist was a powerful and unwavering voice in major protests, standing in solidarity with the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) and supporting teachers in every corner of Belize.
The BNTU and the Belize Association of Principals of Secondary Schools (BAPSS) has joined the nation in expressing heartfelt condolences on the passing of their esteemed colleague.
“Frazer was more than a trade unionist; he was an institution. A true warrior, he dedicated his life to the noble battle for *justice*, *education*, and *respect*. His unwavering voice championed the rights of educators and workers, ensuring their dignity was never compromised. His passion was rooted in the belief that a quality education, delivered in an environment of fairness and respect, was the fundamental right of every Belizean child, teacher, and the cornerstone of our nation’s progress,” BAPSS noted.
A celebration of life is being held at 10am today at the Sacred Heart Auditorium in San Ignacio.
