Ex’s partner attacks mother at home; Two-month-old baby injured with swelling to the forehead

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A Carmelita resident reported that both she and her 2-month-old baby were injured during a violent confrontation at her home on Sunday, November 30, 2025, around 8:40 p.m. The victim told Orange Walk Police that the incident occurred shortly after her ex–ex-common-law partner arrived to pick up their 7-year-old daughter.

According to the report, once the child was placed in the vehicle, the mother approached to hand over the child’s shoes. She said she then saw another woman, identified as the current partner of her ex, exit the vehicle despite being asked previously not to bring her to the residence.

The complainant stated that while she was holding her 2-month-old baby, the woman approached and struck her on the right eye. She reported feeling immediate pain and attempted to shield her baby, but said she was struck two more times before hearing her baby cry out in distress. After the blows, the attacker allegedly walked away and left the area along with the ex-partner.

The mother later discovered that her infant had swelling on the forehead. A statement was recorded, and medico-legal forms were issued for both mother and baby. A doctor certified both of their injuries as harm. Police have listed the named female as wanted for questioning.
