Puerto Rican-born artists Kianí del Valle’s “Mapas/Espejos—Esquemas coreográficos de textos en movimiento” and Jean-Pierre Villafañe’s “Ofrendas” will open on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 6:00pm at Embajada, located at 354 Fernando Primero, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Kianí Del Valle is a multidisciplinary performative artist based in Berlin. She has worked as stage director, dancer, choreographer, actress, visual artist and curator. Her practice fuses contemporary dance and performance with disciplines such as cinema, photography, architecture, pop culture, technology, sound, video and drawing and always rooted through the lens of a Caribbean experience.

Del Valle has performed her work in solo presentations as well as with her company KDV in institutions including MoMA PS1, The Getty Museum, Julia Stoschek Collection, Copenhagen Contemporary Museum, Theatre des Westerns, Funkhaus Berlin, Barbican London, Silence Paris, National Sawdust Brooklyn, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, Performance Space New York, and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) of Puerto Rico. Jean-Pierre Villafañe lives and works in New York, New York. [His] work operates at the intersection of painting and performance, where roles fracture, architectures dissolve, and theatricality dominates. Figures slip in and out of their own reflections, caught in the act of becoming—exaggerated, distorted, and delightfully uncertain.

Katie White (Artnet) writes, “Villafañe, who was born in Puerto Rico and studied (and briefly practiced) architecture, fully committed himself to painting during the isolation of 2020, when private and the public selves were forced to inhabit the same space. This summer, Villafañe made his New York solo debut with “Playtime” at Charles Moffett. Carnival, dance, and Puerto Rican festivals also obliquely inspire Villafañe’s imagery.”
