Haitian American artist Rejin Leys will present “Touch Jamaica: New Cast Paper Relief Sculptures” at the King Manor Museum from September 6 to October 31, 2025. The opening reception and zine launch takes place on September 6, from 1:00 to 4:00pm, where the artist will do a walkthrough of the exhibition, share ideas, and explain her rationale and process for making cast paper sculptures from local historic sites. The Touch Jamaica zine includes her research photos and information about the project. Leys will also hold a paper casting workshop on October 4, from 1:00 to 4:00pm.

King Manor Museum is located at 150-03 Jamaica Avenue, Queens, New York.

Description: “Touch Jamaica” uses handmade paper to explore local history. By casting relief sculptures from such things as our oldest trees, architectural details, and public art, we can think about what these things tell us about our neighborhood’s past, present, and future.
