Exhibition: “Subsistencia Subliminada”

126

Art space El Kilómetro (Km 0.2) presents a solo exhibition by Marisol Plard Narváez: “Subsistencia Subliminada,” which opens TODAY, Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 6:00pm. El Kilómetro is located at 802 Roberto H. Todd Avenue, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Artist and co-founder of Km 0.2 Karlo Andrei Ibarra describes: The exhibition is organized around a living archive of images of the body in action: hands rubbing, picking, tidying; repetitive movements that refer to both routine and ritual. Domestic work, and by extension, care and maintenance work, is presented here not only as a form of economic subsistence but as an intimate, physical, emotional, and political experience.

The artist alludes to domestic action without necessarily romanticizing it by making its wearing down visible. Her gaze is articulated in an act of agency, a way of occupying the world and inscribing the body in a space where life itself is sustained.

With this exhibition, Marisol Plard Narváez culminates a trilogy of projects on domestic work, such as Mucama Project, Turistification, and Subsistencia Sublimada. This exhibition is part of our exhibition calendar, part of our 10 years of uninterrupted production.
