Later this month, VINS Gallery will host a solo exhibition by Sheena Rose: “2.8 of Difficulty.” This exhibition will open on March 23, 2024. VINS Gallery is located at No. 233, Fuxing N Road, Songshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan. [Additional information forthcoming.]

Description (VINS): Sheena’s painting style is characterized by flat coloring, bold patterns from the seventies and eighties, and vivid, comic-book-like palettes and vignettes. Her proud figures take up literal and figurative space, donning clothes, hair and confidence that commands attention. Situated in a myriad of contexts—the tropics, with horses, beautiful interiors, engaged in professional sports—they are symbolic celebrations of the artist’s imagination and self-actualization.

Sheena Rose is a visual artist who works in Barbados. Sheena is a Fulbright Scholar and holds an MFA in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. With a multi-disciplinary practice including painting, drawing, performance art, new media, public art, and mixed media, this Bajan artist has exhibited internationally, in biennials, museums, galleries, art fairs, festivals, auctions, and international artist’s residencies. Her work is included in private art collections.  [. . .]

In 2020, Sheena was one of the recipients of the Greensboro School of Art Distinguished Alumni award. In 2022, she received an award for Culture by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.
