Description: Inspired by the life of writer Maryse Condé, this group exhibition brings together the perspectives of twenty-eight contemporary Caribbean and African artists, exploring the relationships that shape the future of the Caribbean-World [Caraïbe-Monde] in a period marked by the violence of colonial imaginaries.
In this polyphonic narrative where painting, sculpture, installation, and video interact, Guadeloupe is not conceived as an isolated island but as one of the anchor points of a vast constellation of friendships and reflections.
As in Maryse Condé’s novel, La traversée de la mangrove, this series of sensory landscapes, conceived by a collective of curators from different generations and backgrounds, invites us to a vigil: a time to welcome and reconnect, to pay tribute and share the hopes, experiences, and contradictions of a people in the making.
Beyond the walls of Mémorial ACTe, “Nou an péyi révé – Traversées de la mangrove” will offer events and gatherings designed as Biks, spaces for dialogue, transmission, and sharing, bringing together artists, thinkers, cultural actors, and representatives of civil society in several municipalities across the territory to participate in the broader conversation that animates Guadeloupe.
