Isabel Bernal: PRESENTE celebrates the extraordinary career of Puerto Rican artist Isabel Bernal (San Sebastián, 1935), a key figure in the country’s graphic and pictorial art. At 90 years old, this is her first solo exhibition in a museum in Puerto Rico. With a career spanning more than 70 years, Bernal established herself as one of the country’s greatest silkscreen printers and painters, forming part of the renowned Generation of the 50s [Generación del 50].
Since her beginnings at the Community Education Division (DIVEDCO), her work has been deeply linked to the country’s social, cultural, and educational work. The exhibition brings together a selection of paintings and prints from the 1950s to the present, offering a journey through her invaluable contribution to Puerto Rican art. [. . .]
