By Zoila Palma:  The National Meteorological Service has issued an Excessive Rainfall Warning as parts of the country continue to experience heavy downpours linked to moist and unstable weather conditions.

Over the past 24 to 36 hours, rainfall totals of approximately 4 inches have been recorded in sections of the Toledo and Stann Creek Districts, with an additional 2 to 3 inches expected in the next six hours.

Today’s forecast calls for cloudy skies with occasional sunny breaks, especially by the afternoon.

However, this morning, showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain are expected to affect mainly central and northern regions, gradually decreasing later in the day.

Tonight, showers will become isolated, with a few more expected in southern Belize.

Residents in flood-prone areas—particularly in Toledo, Stann Creek, Belize, and Orange Walk Districts—are being urged to closely monitor weather updates and remain alert for potential flood advisories from the National Hydrological Service.
