By Aaron Humes: 15-year-old Eric Reyes was targeted and left for dead on Monday evening while riding home on his bicycle.
According to police, Reyes’ body was found in the area with gunshot wounds. Sometime around 10:00 p.m., Reyes was riding his bike on Park Street heading home when several shots were heard in the area, and was found on the side of the road motionless.
Per a police briefing this afternoon, police on patrol came on the scene and transported Reyes to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH). The motive for the murder is still under investigation, but police have ruled out gang rivalry as a potential motive, as the young man was not known to be involved in any gang rivalry.
The body awaits a post-mortem examination, and police investigations continue.
