By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans can enjoy plenty of sunshine today, but the umbrellas will be needed soon, as showers and thunderstorms are set to spread across the country tonight and into tomorrow.
According to the National Meteorological Service, a moderate and relatively moist easterly airflow prevails. Skies will be sunny today with cloudy intervals, and shower activity will be generally isolated, except over the south, where a few showers and isolated thunderstorms can be expected during the morning hours, and over inland areas during the afternoon and evening.
The bigger change comes after dark. Tonight and tomorrow, skies will turn cloudy with some outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms developing over most areas, but especially over the southern districts and along coastal areas.
Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) and a low of 81 (27 Celsius). Inland areas will be hot, climbing to 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) and dropping to 74 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) and a cooler low of 68 (20 Celsius).
At sea, winds will blow from the east at 10 to 20 knots, with moderate seas and waves of 4 to 6 feet.
On the tropical front, there is good news. No tropical cyclone formation is expected over the region during the next 48 hours.
Looking ahead to Saturday and Saturday night, cloudy skies will continue, with outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms developing mainly along the coast and the southern districts during the daytime, then gradually decreasing.
Today’s low tides are at 1:13 PM and 11:55 PM, with a high tide at 7:43 PM and another high at 6:17 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:24 AM and will set at 6:31 PM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Catherine Cumberbatch.
