By Breaking Belize News Staff: Elvira Virginia Grant Mulholland, 44, a businesswoman from Santa Elena and La Democracia Village, Belize, faced a fourth charge of robbery in court this morning, adding to her previous charges related to the alleged attempted murder of her husband, Jeffery Mulholland. This charge was added to the three counts read on Monday, October 28, which included attempted murder, harm, and use of deadly means of harm.
The alleged incident took place on Friday, October 25, along the Coastal Plain Road. Police reports indicate that the couple engaged in a heated argument, after which Jeffrey Mulholland attempted to leave the area in his vehicle. Elvira reportedly pursued him, forcing his vehicle off the road and confronting him in a physical struggle. During the altercation, she allegedly seized his 9mm Glock pistol and fired shots, causing injuries to her husband. Additionally, she allegedly stole $9,000 in cash and a high-end iPhone 16 valued at $4,000.
Police found Jeffery Mulholland’s vehicle in a roadside ditch, stained with blood, and recovered several expended shell casings. Elvira Mulholland, reportedly attempting to flee the scene, was apprehended by authorities. Her husband is currently in stable condition. Due to the severity of the charges, she has been remanded to Belize Central Prison until December 30, 2024, with bail denied.
