By Horace Palacio: Former UDP minister Elodio Aragon has launched a scathing attack on Moses “Shyne” Barrow, demanding that he immediately abandon his bid to remain party leader. In a strongly worded Facebook post, Aragon described Barrow’s continued claim to leadership as “insane and ludicrous,” calling on UDP members to make it clear that the party must move forward without him.
Aragon’s remarks reflect growing frustration among UDP insiders who view Barrow as a major obstacle to the party’s revival. He criticized Barrow for what he called a hijacking of the party’s leadership, emphasizing that the national convention had already decided that Tracy Taegar Panton would lead the UDP as Leader of the Opposition.
“No one wants him, not even those in his own constituency,” Aragon stated. He added that Barrow’s overwhelming defeat in Mesopotamia, where he finished last, should serve as proof that he no longer holds political credibility.
The former minister urged UDP members to publicly call for Barrow’s resignation, warning that if he refuses, the party must make it clear that he has “lost it completely.”
With Barrow refusing to step aside and Aragon leading the charge against him, the UDP faces a leadership crisis that could further divide the party. How the situation unfolds in the coming weeks may determine the party’s future as it attempts to regroup after its election losses.
