Elmer Nah back in court, wants another look at evidence as preliminary inquiry for triple murder continues

By Aaron Humes: While his preliminary inquiry for the murders of Vivian, Jon, and David Ramnarace on New Year’s Eve, 2022, is before the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court, accused killer Elmer Nah was today moved to Belize City for a further adjournment.

Neither Head of Prosecution Branch Alifah Elrington nor Nah’s defense attorney was present before Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola this morning, but Nah was.

The inquiry was adjourned to April 10, but Nah had a request of the Chief Magistrate – to order the prosecution to provide another copy, or better yet the original, DVD recording obtained from the Ramnarace residence on the night of the murders.

According to the former police corporal, his copy is of poor quality and he is unable to see any faces on the video provided with his disclosure.

Without his attorney present, Nah submitted on his own that he should get the video enhanced, or a new copy of the original DVD.

The Chief Magistrate, in addressing the matter, told Nah that she was not sure if she understood his issue with the DVD, and told him that she could not give him the original DVD as that was for the prosecution. However, she told him that there is no issue with a new copy being made for the record and so he needs to have his attorney address the court on the issue of the DVD on the next court date.

Despite Nah’s issue with the copied DVD, the Chief Magistrate ordered that he be provided with another copy on or before his next court date set for April 10, 2024, in Belmopan Magistrate’s Court.
