According to police, the home owner told them that she had brought electrician Tyrell Matura, 23, of Fresh Pond, Burrell Boom, Belize District, to fix two electrical outlets located in the bathroom. She reported that she advised Matura to turn off the power before fixing the outlet but he replied that “it’s only 110 [volts], that da just ah lee pinch.”
Shortly after he went to work, she heard Tyrell shout her name. She found him in the attic lying down, gasping for air. She immediately turned off the power and called her brother and neighbor for help. Thereafter she called 911.
Matura was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment but was unresponsive and pronounced dead shortly thereafter when he could not be revived. Investigations continue.
