Elderly man arrested for crack cocaine which he says he uses to treat back pain, kidneys and prostate

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 69-year-old man arrested for possession of crack cocaine told the court that while he was indeed busted with the drug, he uses crack to treat his back pain, his kidneys and his prostate conditions.

Arthur Gabb appeared in court unrepresented on Monday and was read a single count of possession of a controlled drug. The amount of drugs he was busted with was so minuscule, it didn’t even move the scale on which it was weighed.

For his guilty plea, and considering his list of medical conditions, he was given a $200 fine which he must pay by March 21, or face two months in prison. He also had an outstanding $500 fine, which would normally need to be settled before being allowed to go free but because of his ailing health, he was still allowed to go free.

Gabb was busted with the drug on January 20 on Castle Street during a police stop and search.
