By Aaron Humes: Early this morning, Wednesday, a shooting occurred on Cayetano Street in Punta Gorda Town, resulting in injuries to two individuals. The victims, identified as 21-year-old Kayla Gonzalez and 22-year-old Jorel Carr, were targeted while they were inside their residence.
According to police reports, the incident took place around 1:48 AM when two gunmen approached and opened fire through the room window of the victims’ home. Police stated that Gonzalez sustained a grazing wound to her right arm, while Carr suffered a gunshot injury to his right hand. Fortunately, neither injury was life-threatening.
Police further reported that the assailants were armed with different firearms, one using a 9-millimeter handgun and the other a .22 caliber weapon. The suspects remain at large, and police are actively investigating the incident, seeking any leads or information from the community.
