By Horace Palacio: A fire broke out early Sunday morning on Hunters Lane in Belize City, leaving two homes damaged.

At around 2:30 a.m., police and fire personnel responded to reports of a fire engulfing a two-storey colonial-style wooden and cement house, believed to be abandoned. The flames later spread to a nearby cream-colored two-storey cement house occupied by 39-year-old Jenna Leslie, who resides at #10 Hunters Lane.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The fire was eventually brought under control by firefighters under the command of Fire Chief Gladstone Bucknor. The colonial house was completely destroyed, and the contents of the second home were lost, though the structure remains standing.

Initial investigations revealed no useful surveillance footage or eyewitness accounts. The value of damages is still unknown, and attempts to contact the property owner regarding insurance coverage have so far been unsuccessful.
