By Aaron Humes: In the early hours of today, Monday, police responded to reports of an arson attempt on Kelly Street.
Upon arrival, officers met with the resident of an apartment on Kelly Street. She reported that just before 12:30 AM, she heard something suspicious at her front door, accompanied by the sound of a screen door opening. Alarmed, she then heard the distinctive noise of a substance being sprayed on her door.
The resident decided to act quickly, retrieving a bucket of water to extinguish the flames that had ignited on her front door. Thanks to her prompt response, the fire was put out before it could cause significant damage.
The scene was processed but there were no major damages reported to the door. Surveillance footage from nearby camera systems was reviewed, but no useful information regarding the perpetrator was obtained.
At this time, no individuals have been detained in connection with the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
