By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two Belize City men have been convicted and fined after pleading guilty to damaging a woman’s parked vehicle, though both claimed the incident was accidental.

They are 47-year-old Rupert Calwin Codd and 49-year-old Anthony Leopold Campbell. The pair appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Mannon Dennison in Court #6, where they were jointly charged with damage to property.

The charge stemmed from damage to the rear passenger-side window of a woman’s vehicle. In court, Campbell explained that he threw a stone at a dog that had attacked them, but the stone struck the vehicle’s glass instead. Codd gave a similar account, supporting his friend’s version of events.

Both men apologized, with Campbell asking for leniency as he has three young children depending on him. Magistrate Dennison fined each man $500 plus $5 in court costs, to be paid by October 31, 2025, or face three months in prison.
