Duane Wite charged with murder in April Fool’s Day shooting

By Aaron Humes: 20-year-old Duane Dwight Wite has been arraigned for the murder of Coby Ledlon, also 20, following a shooting incident that took place on April 1.

Wite, a construction worker residing at Iguana Street Extension, appeared before a Senior Magistrate facing a single charge of murder, stemming from allegations that he fatally shot Ledlon in broad daylight while the victim was socializing with friends on Iguana Street.

According to police reports, the shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. on April 1. Witnesses state that Wite approached Ledlon and fired two shots, one of which struck him in the head. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Ledlon succumbed to his injuries the following day, on April 2.

Wite has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison until his next court date on June 30. Due to the severity of the charge against him, bail has been denied.
