By Horace Palacio: Belize is in for another sunny and sizzling Sunday as fair, warm, and mostly dry weather dominates the country. However, a cold front is on the horizon, and residents can expect changing weather patterns starting Monday.
The Meteorological Service has issued a Small Craft Warning due to strong easterly to southeasterly winds blowing at 15 to 25 knots, creating rough sea conditions with waves between 6 to 8 feet. Mariners are advised to remain in safe harbor and avoid open waters.
Inland areas will experience sweltering conditions, with highs reaching 96°F (36°C). Coastal regions will be slightly cooler at 89°F (32°C), while hill communities can expect highs around 84°F (29°C).
Though the day will remain mostly sunny, isolated showers or thunderstorms could develop over the Maya Mountains during the late afternoon or evening hours.
A shift is expected Monday as the cold front moves in, bringing cloudy intervals, isolated thunderstorms, and periods of rain throughout the country.
