By Aaron Humes: A tight-knit community and school family are reeling from the heart-wrenching loss of 13-year-old Magezi Miller, who drowned while fishing near his home on Sunday, January 4. The promising student and talented musician was just two days back from a visit to his mother in the United States.
ASP Stacy Smith, Police Staff Officer, shared details of the tragic incident: “The investigation has so far disclosed that the young Mr Miller was reported to have been playing in a pond of water that is located on the family’s property, and when the father called out for him, he got no response. The father then made checks in the pond, and that is when the young Mr Miller was discovered he was transported to the hospital for medical attention; however, efforts to resuscitate him did not prove successful. The body of Magezi Miller now awaits a post-mortem examination.”
Magezi was a first-form student at Belize Christian Academy. Outside of academics, Magezi was also a dedicated member of the Panerrifix Junior Steel Band, where he showcased his musical talent. Familiars in both circles continue to mourn his loss.
