Driver escapes unhurt after pickup runs off Yo Creek Road

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A Belize City technician escaped unhurt after his vehicle ran off the road in a minor traffic accident along the Yo Creek Road in the Orange Walk District on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say that around 2:00 p.m. on November 5, they responded to the scene where they found a white 2021 Chevrolet Silverado pickup in a ditch on the right-hand side of the road while traveling toward Orange Walk Town.

Investigations revealed that the driver, a 43-year-old Belizean technician, was heading from Yo Creek Village when he reportedly noticed an iron object on the road. In an attempt to avoid hitting it, he swerved and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the highway.

The pickup sustained damage to the front portion and tires, but police confirmed that no injuries were reported. All vehicle documents were in order, and the driver was advised to visit the police station to make a full report.

Authorities are reminding drivers to stay alert and reduce speed when navigating rural roads, especially where debris or loose materials may cause accidents.
