By Breaking Belize News Staff: U.S. President Donald Trump publicly criticized Israel on Tuesday, accusing the country of acting recklessly in the wake of a ceasefire deal he had just announced between Israel and Iran.
Speaking to reporters before heading to the NATO summit in The Hague, Trump expressed frustration over Israel’s immediate airstrike on Iran after the ceasefire deadline.
“There was one rocket that I guess was fired overboard after the time limit, and now Israel is going out [to strike Iran] because of one rocket that didn’t land anywhere. These guys have got to calm down,” Trump said.
The president, who has been positioning himself as a key broker in ending the Israel-Iran conflict, appeared visibly upset over what he called an “unnecessary escalation.”
“I didn’t like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal. They didn’t have to unload,” he continued.
Trump didn’t hold back, saying Israel had launched “the biggest load of bombs we’ve ever seen,” and added: “I’m not happy with Israel.”
He ended his remarks with a blunt assessment of the long-running Middle East conflict: “We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing.”
This rare rebuke of Israel by Trump has drawn attention across the globe, with political analysts calling it a shift in tone from one of Israel’s strongest allies.
As tensions in the Middle East continue to boil over, Belizeans—especially those with family working abroad or with interests in global peace and economic stability—should take note. Escalation in the region often impacts global fuel prices, economic markets, and international diplomacy, all of which ripple down to smaller nations like Belize.
