By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a second fatal road traffic accident in western Belize.
This morning, Friday, October 17, about 3:30 a.m., police responded to a road traffic accident between Miles 52 and 53 on the George Price Highway in Teakettle Village, Cayo District. Upon arrival, they discovered the motionless body of 25-year-old Derrel Montero, a Belizean of Teakettle Village, on the side of the highway. Police also observed a 125 Lifan motorcycle with damages nearby.
Initial investigations revealed that about 3:10 a.m., Montero and Sean Armstrong were both traveling on the motorcycle when they allegedly lost control of the cycle and collided with the guardrail, causing both men to be flung from the cycle. Montero was pronounced dead, while Armstrong sustained minor injuries.
