By Zoila Palma: The Department of the Environment (DOE) hosted a Validation Workshop today at the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change & Solid Waste Management Auditorium, marking a key milestone in the revision of Belize’s National Wastewater Policy.
During the session, the project consultant presented the first draft of the updated policy, which seeks to strengthen the country’s wastewater management framework.
Key goals include addressing industrial and agricultural wastewater issues, integrating climate change adaptation strategies, aligning with international standards, and aiming for a 50% reduction in contamination of both groundwater and surface water resources.
The workshop brought together a wide range of stakeholders who provided critical feedback and recommendations to ensure the policy reflects national priorities and promotes sustainable development.
The DOE extended its gratitude to all participants for their continued collaboration in advancing Belize’s environmental protection efforts.
