The Department of the Environment (DOE), within the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Climate Change (MSDCC), is pleased to announce the successful completion of a training focused on environmental compliance monitoring, held from September 17-19, 2024, at the DOE auditorium in Belmopan City. The training brought together over ten agencies from various sectors, including Public Health, Forest Department, NICH and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining, to enhance understanding and implementation of compliance standards.
The training was led by the United States Environmental Protection Agency industry experts, who provided valuable insights into the latest compliance procedures, tools, and effective monitoring techniques. Participants engaged in hands-on activities, practical exercises, and discussions designed to equip them with the necessary tools to strengthen their organizations’ compliance efforts.
“Compliance is not just a checklist; it’s a critical aspect of maintaining trust and integrity in our operations,” said Anthony Mai, Chief Environmental Officer. “This training was an opportunity for professionals to learn, share experiences, and collaborate on solutions to common challenges.”
The DOE is committed to fostering a culture of compliance and will continue to implement practical applications of strategies and skills to ensure compliance with Belize’s environmental legislation.
