By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 19-year-old delivery worker from Ladyville has been fined $1,005 after pleading guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Asher Amaron Sutherland, of Lords Bank, appeared unrepresented before a magistrate in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was read a single charge for possession of 898 grams of marijuana (1.9 pounds) with intent to supply.

Sutherland wasted no time in admitting to the offense and entered an immediate guilty plea.

The court imposed a non-custodial sentence, ordering him to pay a fine of $1,000 plus $5 in court costs. He has been given until July 31, 2026 to pay the total. If he defaults, he will serve 10 months imprisonment.

The charge stems from a police operation conducted on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Sutherland’s Lords Bank residence, where the cannabis was discovered.

While avoiding immediate jail time, the teenager faces a significant financial penalty for the drug offense.
