By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Last week, 14-year-old twins Ixchell and Michell Xis from Benque Viejo del Carmen visited the Octavia Waight Center and noticed the elderly residents lacked sufficient entertainment.
Moved by this, the twins contacted their stepdad, Jack Helms, to secure funds for a much-needed television to bring joy and entertainment to the residents.
The twins wanted to remind the elderly that they are not forgotten and that they are loved, both by Jesus and by all Belizeans.
Their thoughtful gesture highlights the importance of respecting and caring for our elders.
Elders are the foundation of our families and communities, and it’s essential to show them love, gratitude, and respect for the wisdom and sacrifices they’ve made.
By cherishing their contributions, we not only uplift them, but we also set an example for future generations to continue showing kindness and care for those who came before us.
