By Aaron Humes: On the evening of October 11, 9-year-old Evadney Martinez was pronounced dead after collapsing at his home on Police Street.

Around 9:40 PM, emergency services were alerted by the police control room about a minor who had passed out in the vicinity of Linda Vista and Police Street. Responding swiftly, personnel from the Crimes Investigation Branch arrived on the scene to find Evadney’s mother holding her unresponsive son.

Despite immediate transport to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), doctors were unable to revive the young boy. He was officially pronounced dead at 10:15 PM.

According to initial reports, Evadney had been experiencing headaches, back pain, and difficulty breathing earlier that evening. His mother reported that he suffered from asthma but had no other known medical conditions.

Police noted no visible signs of injury or foul play. Evadney’s body has been placed in the KHMH morgue pending a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
