Death investigation launched after woman dies at Blue Creek medical center

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police responded to a report of a deceased person at the Blue Creek Medical Center in Orange Walk District on Friday, April 24th, 2026, at approximately 9:02 a.m.

Upon arrival at the medical facility in Blue Creek Village, officers observed the motionless body of a clear complexion female lying face up inside the morgue. The woman was dressed in a floral pink blouse. A physical inspection of the body revealed no apparent signs of external injuries.

The deceased was identified as Katharina Klassen, a 76-year-old Belizean of Cuatro Leguas, Blue Creek Village, born on August 29th, 1949. Identification was carried out by her nephew, Walter P. Kornelsen, a 61-year-old Belizean farmer of the same community.

Initial investigations revealed that earlier that morning, at around 1:40 a.m., Klassen had been rushed to the Blue Creek Medical Center in an unconscious state by her nephew. She was taken into the clinic where she stopped breathing at approximately 1:58 a.m. and was pronounced dead shortly after.

The body remained at the Blue Creek Medical Center morgue pending further processes.
