Cycling Federation of Belize releases 34th KREM New Year’s Day Cycling Classic Top 20 list

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The 34th KREM New Year’s Day Cycling Classic, held from the Belize Mexico Border to Belize City on January 1, 2025, brought out the best in competitive cycling with a remarkable display of endurance and skill.

On Thursday, the Cycling Federation of Belize released the Top 20 list of winners and their prizes.

Though the race was shorter due to a rolling start, Cory Williams of the Miami Blazers covered the race in a record time of 3:23:23, earning him the first title of the 2025 racing calendar. His victory came with an impressive prize package of $2500.00, a round-trip ticket to the USA, and a trophy, marking a stellar start to the New Year for the accomplished cyclist.

Second-place Oscar Quiroz from the Valvoline Cycling Team rode with impressive zest and vigour, earning himself $1500.00 and a trophy.

Third place was claimed by Mexican Miguel Angel Cendales López of the JP Tribikes Cycling Team, who took home $1000.00 and a trophy for his outstanding performance.

The fourth position saw Jyven Gonzalez from the G-Flow Cycling Team winning $500.00 in cash. Jean-Michel Lachance of Knix & Knax Transit Cycling Team secured the fifth spot with a cash prize of $350.00. The G-Flow Cycling Team continued to dominate with Derrick Chavarria, who finished in sixth place, winning $275.00.

Other notable performances include Carlton Robinson from the A. Mahler Digi Alliance Cycling Team, who finished seventh and earned $200.00, and Jaylen Briceno of the G-Flow Cycling Team, who took the eighth spot with $175.00. Delton Rojas of the Rolling Shattaz Cycling Team finished ninth, securing $150.00, while Holy Saturday Cross Country winner, Honduran Luis Lopez of LL Cycling Team, rounded out the top 10 with a $100.00 prize.

The competition was fierce among the remaining top 20 finishers, each demonstrating tremendous dedication and skill. Jafari Castro of the G-Flow Cycling Team placed 11th with a $75.00 prize, followed by Byron Pope from the A. Mahler/Digi Alliance Cycling Team in 12th, also winning $75.00. Dylan Levy of the Valvoline Cycling Team took 13th place, earning $50.00, and Henry Moreira from A. Mahler/Digi Alliance Cycling Team placed 14th, also winning $50.00.

Hollister Baptist of the G-Flow Cycling Team finished 15th, securing $50.00, while Kenroy ‘Smokes’ Gladden from the SPD Cycling Team took 16th place with a $25.00 prize. Jairo Campos of the Wateva Boyz Cycling Team earned 17th place and $25.00, followed by Fernando Rosado from the A. Mahler/Digi Alliance in 18th, who also received $25.00.

The final top 20 positions were rounded out by Joshua Fuller of Team Santino’s Cycling Team in 19th place, earning $25.00, and Giovanni Lovell of the Lovell Cycling Team in 20th place, who also won $25.00.
