Cycling Federation of Belize congratulates José Peláez on re-election as Pan American Cycling Confederation President

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) has extended its congratulations to José Peláez on his re-election as President of the Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI) at the organization’s 2025 Congress in Panama on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Peláez, who has been with COPACI since 1991, won the elections with a 29 to 7 vote, running on a campaign focused on growth, creativity, impact, transparency, and ethics.

“Congrats Mr. Peláez on your re-election as the President of COPACI,” the CFB said.

“Looking forward to your continued development of Cycling in the Region.”

The Caribbean Cycling Union (CCU), of which the CFB is a member, also expressed its support.

“The CCU looks forward to continuing our relationship with COPACI,” the CCU said.

Peláez expressed his gratitude to the 37 national federations and dedicated his victory to his family and the entire cycling community in America.

“The expected tensions are over. I must begin by thanking those who trusted our project once again to lead the Pan American Cycling Confederation for four more years, following the voting at the Pan American Congress held in this city,” Peláez said in a statement.

“As I said when the result was announced, this is thanks to the national federations, and I dedicate it to my family and the entire family of cycling in America that I represent.

“Today is a happy day … I can assure you that nothing gives me more joy than the applause received from the 37 national federations present. Long live cycling in America! Long live COPACI!” he said.
