By Zoila Palma:  Minister of Foreign Affairs Francis Fonseca explained during an interview with 7News Belize that the Cuban scholarship program is being scaled down.

“We have scaled down the program because and it was an agreement between us we have been sending a few students but not in the numbers we were in the past and that is because of the current situation in Cuba, the very very difficult challenges they are facing economically,” Minister Fonseca explained.

Minister Fonseca says that due to these challenges, it is difficult for students and their families when they go to Cuba so it is just a reflection of the economic realities in Cuba.
