By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: In a move aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic violations, the Belmopan City Council, AKT Motorcycles, and Unicomer (Belize) Ltd. have joined forces to address the growing concerns over motorcycle accidents in the city.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was officially signed today at the Courts Belmopan store to launch a comprehensive road safety initiative.
The collaboration aims to raise awareness among both motorists and motorcycle riders about the importance of safe riding practices, traffic law compliance, and the use of protective gear.
By promoting responsible road behavior, the partnership seeks to reduce motorcycle-related accidents and fatalities in the area.
Belmopan Mayor Pablo Cawich, along with representatives from the City Council, was present at the signing of the agreement, which marks the beginning of educational campaigns focused on traffic safety.
Through this initiative, the Council and Unicomer Belize plan to strengthen traffic law enforcement while encouraging local residents to play an active role in fostering a safer road environment.
With the MOU now in place, the Belmopan City Council and its partners are hopeful that the initiative will make a significant impact on the city’s road safety standards, making the roads safer for everyone.
