By Breaking Belize News Staff: Tour operator and businessman Yhonny Rosado is free of a disorderly conduct charge after a Belize City Magistrate dismissed the matter and warned him about his future conduct.
Rosado, 53, appeared in court on Wednesday and changed his previous not-guilty plea to guilty. However, no fine was imposed and the sitting Magistrate reportedly dismissed the charge after issuing him a warning.
Rosado told reporters that despite entering the guilty plea, he continues to maintain that he never uttered the words he had been accused of directing at Tourism Police Corporal Jermaine Mangar. He said he decided to resolve the matter rather than continue making repeated court appearances and apologized to Mangar in open court.
The charge stemmed from a June incident outside the Fort Street Tourism Village, where Rosado and authorities became involved in a heated exchange after one of his tour vehicles was reportedly prevented from leaving the terminal.
At his June 11 arraignment, Rosado denied using insulting language toward the officer and was granted bail in the sum of $500 plus one surety of the same amount. At the time, he publicly maintained that he had done nothing wrong.
Rosado, a longtime tour operator associated with Cavetubing.com, said following Wednesday’s court appearance that he was relieved to have the matter concluded and would not be required to return to court in connection with the charge.
