By Aaron Humes: A Cotton Tree village man faces charges after allegedly resisting and causing injury to a police officer while being detained for alleged disorderly behaviour.

According to police, a constable attached to the Special Patrol Unit reported that while on special duty at FFB Stadium on the Hummingbird Highway on February 15, he was approached by a Corporal who instructed that he escort a man to the Belmopan Police Station pending charges of disorderly conduct. The accused was clear-skinned, curly-haired and standing approximately five feet five inches tall.

The accusing officer and one other placed the accused inside the pan of a police vehicle. The accusing officer sat on the tire near the back glass of the mobile with his fellow on the rail of the vehicle guarding the accused, who was not handcuffed.

The accused then attacked the second officer with a punch, causing the first officer to hold him from behind. The man then pushed backwards, taking him and the officer out of the truck to the ground. The accusing officer suspected a dislocated left shoulder.
The officers got the accused to the station and the officer was treated for his injury, described on the medico-legal form as harm.

Investigations continue.
