By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Corozal Wellness and Community Health Resource Center was officially launched today.
UNICEF Belize joined the Government of Belize, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Health Education and Community Participation Bureau, and the Government of the Republic of Korea for the launch.
The centre will serve as a space for community health workers, volunteers, youth leaders and health professionals to access resources, build skills and strengthen community based health services.
The focus is on reaching families who need those services most.
UNICEF Belize Representative Sajid Ali spoke about the importance of community in building a strong health system, and the role each person plays in ensuring services reach where they are supposed to without leaving anyone behind.
UNICEF thanked the Government of the Republic of Korea and everyone who supported the initiative.
“Access to information is a right and not a privilege,” the organisation said.
