Corozal Elite hold champions Napoles to 2–2 draw in PWLB Closing Season opener

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Champions Napoles FC were forced to settle for a 2–2 draw on Saturday afternoon after a determined Corozal Elite FC side matched them goal for goal in the 2026 Westline Premier Women’s League Closing Season opener at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.
Corozal Elite struck first in the 20th minute through Edith Cabrera, who finished confidently to give the visitors an early lead. Napoles responded immediately after halftime when Heidy López equalized in the 46th minute, shifting the momentum back toward the champions.
Nine minutes later, Napoles completed the turnaround. Grace O’Neill fired home in the 55th minute, putting the defending champions ahead 2–1 and seemingly in control.
But Corozal Elite refused to fade. Their persistence paid off in the 71st minute, when Josefin Reyes found the back of the net to level the match at 2–2 — a goal that ultimately secured a valuable point against the reigning champions.
Napoles pushed for a late winner, but Corozal held firm to close out an impressive performance and a well-earned draw.
