By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City police constable is out on bail after being accused of assaulting his own mother and her common-law husband during a domestic dispute.
Police Constable Roderick Williams, 29, appeared in Court #2 on Monday alongside his cousin, 18-year-old Damion Vernon, where the pair were read a total of five criminal charges stemming from the December 4 incident.
Williams and Vernon were jointly charged with damage to property, accused of destroying household items belonging to Williams’ mother, including a bedroom door, three chairs, a water cooler, and a sheet rack valued at $1,080.
Williams alone faces two charges; Common assault upon his mother and aggravated assault with a knife upon her partner.
Vernon is separately charged with aggravated assault upon Williams’ mother’s partner, and both men face an additional joint charge of wounding.
Both pleaded not guilty and were granted bail of $2,500 each plus one surety, with strict conditions ordering them not to interfere with the complainants and to stay at least 25 feet away from them.
According to police reports, the altercation began after Williams confronted his mother for filing a complaint against him at the Professional Standards Branch (PSB). The argument allegedly escalated when Williams called his cousin for assistance, leading to the violent incident.
The case was adjourned to January 26, 2026.
