By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 24-year-old police officer from Lords Bank Village has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after his personal licensed firearm was forensically linked to the murder of a Ladyville resident last month.

Kenroy Rudolph Allen Jr., of Lords Bank, appeared before the Chief Magistrate in Court #1 on Monday morning, where he was arraigned on a single charge of murder. Allen, who is posted at the Belmopan Police Headquarters, is accused of the fatal shooting of Shakeem Francis Ferguson on Sunday, January 25, 2026, on Joe Lewis Street in Ladyville.

Due to the nature of the offense, bail was denied and Allen was remanded until his next court date, set for May 15, 2026.

According to police, reports of gunshots were received around 5:30 p.m. on January 25. Responding officers found Ferguson lying motionless on his right side with apparent gunshot injuries. He was later identified by his common-law wife. A doctor pronounced him dead on arrival at 8:26 p.m.

Scenes of Crime personnel processed the area and recovered 13 expended 9mm cartridges, collected blood swabs, and reviewed surveillance footage from the vicinity.

Police investigations later led them to a black Chevrolet Equinox SUV believed to be owned by Allen. The vehicle was subsequently located at Mile 1 on the George Price Highway near Monica’s Pawn Shop. Investigators also reported lifting partial fingerprints from a plastic cup inside the vehicle.

Allen later visited a police station and was detained as the investigation progressed. His licensed P320 M18 9mm pistol was seized and sent to the National Forensic Laboratory for ballistic testing. Police also searched his home and collected clothing, including a pair of Nike slippers he was reportedly seen wearing on the day of the incident.

A post-mortem examination certified that Ferguson died from hypovolemic shock due to internal and external bleeding caused by gunshot injuries.

Police say the breakthrough in the case came after a ballistic report confirmed that a 9mm cartridge case recovered from the scene matched Allen’s personal firearm.

Allen was subsequently charged and formally arraigned for murder.
