Convicted rapist, Ignatius Williams, to serve 8 years and 3 months of a 14-year sentence for rape

By Aaron Humes: 30-year-old Ignatius Williams will serve 8 years and 3 months behind bars for raping a woman in August of 2019.

On Monday, December 11, 2023, Williams pleaded guilty to rape and spared the victim from having to testify.

High Court Justice Candace Nanton set a term of 14 years or 168 months. Then she deducted 56 months, a third of the sentence, because Williams pleaded guilty to the rape and saved the court time by not going through a trial. Justice Nanton also deducted 13 months for the time Williams spent awaiting trial.

On August 17, 2019, Williams in a home invasion broke into the woman’s house at around 8:00 a.m., and by force, while armed with a knife, he placed the weapon to the woman’s neck and forced her into a room inside her house where he raped her.

Williams also faces a separate unrelated charge for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
